NASH
Brief
NASH is a duplex retreat embedded in a green landscape, conceived as a quiet counterpoint to the intensity of the city. After the long drive through the surrounding hills, the architecture was designed to feel restrained and undemanding, allowing nature to remain the primary presence.
Large openings on opposite ends of the apartment frame uninterrupted views and establish a direct relationship with the surrounding landscape. These expansive glazed surfaces dissolve the boundary between inside and outside, filling the interior with daylight and creating a continuous visual axis through the home. The upper level unfolds as a single open living platform where kitchen and lounge areas merge seamlessly, reinforcing spatial fluidity and openness.
Concrete defines the architectural language. Its solid and neutral character forms the foundation of the space, balanced by soft textiles and warm furnishings. Custom angular shelving integrates into the walls and continues along the staircase, incorporating greenery into the architecture itself rather than treating it as decoration.
The lower level is reserved for rest. Bedrooms and bathrooms are softened through full carpet coverage, enhancing acoustic comfort and warmth. In the master suite, a translucent glass partition subtly conceals the wardrobe while maintaining visual continuity.
NASH is defined by contrast and balance: openness and shelter, raw material and softness, architecture and landscape. The design steps back, allowing light, scale, and nature to shape the experience of the space.
